Michelin Guide adds 2 Cebu hotels to its recommendations list

Michelin Guide said these two hotels 'set a new tone for luxury in Cebu' and offer 'intuitive service.'
The prestigious restaurant and hotel rating system, Michelin Guide, recognized two new Filipino hotels that reflect the country's outstanding hospitality and world-class service.
In June, two hotels in Cebu made it to the cream of the crop -- NUSTAR Hotel Cebu and Dusit Thani Mactan.
Michelin described NUSTAR Hotel as “the kind of address that sets a new tone for luxury in Cebu.”
“On a rising stretch of Cebu's south coast, NUSTAR Hotel is part city hotel, part island escape, with high-floor views, bold interiors, and space to properly unwind,” Michelin Guide wrote online. “Rooms and suites are oversized, with deep soaking tubs and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over sea or skyline. There is an ease to the place, but the energy picks up in the tasting room, lounge, and pool villas.”
“It is the kind of address that sets a new tone for luxury in Cebu,” Michelin said in its description of the luxury hotel.
NUSTAR Hotel is the second hotel to open at NUSTAR Resort and Casino, and integrated resort that houses a casino, hotels, a mall, and several premium restaurants.
Meanwhile, Dusit Thani Mactan received a nod from the Michelin Guide with how it seamlessly incorporates “Filipino warmth and Thai hospitality.”
“Dusit Thani brings together Filipino warmth and Thai hospitality, offering intuitive service and one of the most impressive infinity pools in the region. Rooms are bright and comfortable, many with balconies made for sunset-watching,” the Michelin highlights on its website.
The international guide also highlighted the food factor at Dusit Thani: “A stylish Thai restaurant and breezy beachside bar complete the scene, all anchored by a lobby that feels more like a tropical stage set than a check-in desk.”
This win for the two Cebu hotels follows the recent addition of five Philippine hotels to the Michelin Guide's recommendations list in May: Fairmont Makati, Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts, Solaire Resort Entertainment City, Raffles Makati, and Shangri-La The Fort, Manila.
In 2024, the guide added its initial list of Philippine hotels, which include Amanpulo, Hotel Okura Manila, The Peninsula Manila, Admiral Hotel Manila - MGallery, Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan, and the Nay Palad Hideaway Siargao.
There are now a total of 13 Philippine establishments in Michelin Guide's hotel recommendations list.
